  • This is the Parish Church of North Cheriton, located in a picturesque south-facing position on the side of a hill, overlooking the village. In old English 'Cheriton' simply means ‘village with a church’, suggesting there could have been a church here at the time of the Domesday Book in 1086. The lower part of the tower is possibly 14th Century, but the church was largely rebuilt in 1878, with the addition of a north aisle. Built of local stone with Hamstone dressings. By the entrance to the churchyard there is the village War Memorial, the Pound (for stray animals) and the 16th Century Village Stocks. Just below the church is a substantial 19th Century Manor House.
